Allison Hunter

I write, photograph and film stories that highlight marginalized communities and the environment. In December, I graduated from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism, where I focused on local accountability. Over the past two years, I've covered immigration, business and culture for Newsday, The City Reporter, The Haitian Times, Front Page Africa and Canada's National Post. Along the way, I've been moved by the people who trusted me with their stories, from West Africa to Wisconsin. Before journalism, I taught fine art at Rice University for more than eight years, and I left academia to hold power to account.
