I'm a journalist from Texas whose family is from Mauritius, a small island nation off the east coast of Madagascar. I became interested in storytelling long before journalism; I grew up watching relatives command entire rooms with a good story. At 18, I published 10, a novel about a teenage girl navigating a concussion and mental illness. Today, I report on health and mental health because learning to care for your body and mind is one of the most empowering things a person can do. In a country where health is often treated as a luxury or a political talking point rather than a human right, I want to make complex information accessible, accurate, and deeply human.
