Olivia Cruz Mayeda

I am a writer based in the Bay Area, where my family has lived for over 100 years. As an arts and culture writer at NPR’s local station, I led a bimonthly style series, reported on reparations in Oakland, and provided cultural commentary.

Now, at the Chronicle, I bring my deep, intergenerational connection to the Bay Area to my work as a reporter for the Race & Equity desk.
