Shaylee Navarro
I am a writer from a small suburb in Salt Lake City, where limited access to healthcare, education and housing intersects with a growing Latino and immigrant population. Growing up alongside these issues – and as a first generation Mexican-American – I look to document the intimate, human side of these stories, whether through policy, neighborhoods or community.
I made my start in journalism at USC’s student-run paper, The Daily Trojan. Prior to stints at The Salt Lake Tribune and SLUG Magazine, I worked at The Smithsonian American Art Museum and The Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, the latter as an arts educator.
