Shefali K. Kulkarni
Shefali S. Kulkarni has been a journalist for 19 years in various roles from a health care policy reporter to a newsroom strategist. Shefali’s mother, who worked as a journalist in India, sparked her journalistic curiosity. But it was reading the coverage after 9/11 that motivated Shefali to become a journalist. She realized then and now that the diversity inside a newsroom impacts the coverage it produces and, inevitably, the communities it serves. Shefali has served on the national board of the South Asian Journalists Association. When she is not in a newsroom, Shefali is biking, FaceTiming her nephew, or baking while listening to reggaeton.
Shefali is part of the inaugural cohort of Editing Fellows.
