Vanessa Ochavillo

Vanessa Ochavillo is a journalist who’s reported for outlets across California, including the Sacramento Bee, Peninsula Press, Center for Investigative Reporting and Half Moon Bay Review, as well as WBUR in Boston. In California, her reporting has looked at migrant labor issues in the SF Bay Area and public safety on the coast. She believes that informed communities are stronger communities. As an editor, she strives to get stories out that cut through complexity and confusion. She is proudly from Guam, where she got her start in journalism as a high schooler doing vox-pop interviews at the local mall.

Vanessa is part of the inaugural cohort of Editing Fellows.
